Which AV installation option will suit you best?

Choosing how you want your AV installation to be carried out is massively important. If you choose the wrong one, then it will end up costing you a lot more in the long run. Because of this, it is vital that you do your research first in order to get the right AV installation for your home or business. What should you be looking out for?

A single rack

Most AV systems will utilise a single rack for all media devices, mixers and other relevant devices. This allows everything to be kept close, and from there, you can set it up to be used in multiple rooms. This does not mean that it has to be used across multiple rooms – it would also be the best way to set up a cinema room in your house. The single-rack set-up does mean that it is much easier to move cabling around the building in order to offer many rooms access to the rack.

This is perfect for a home that wants to offer music to every room or for businesses that like to play music – so, a supermarket would have the same system in place as a house that offers the ability to listen to music anywhere, though obviously on a much larger scale.

Multiple racks

While a single rack is a great way to keep things tidy, if you are offering sound across multiple floors, then a rack for each floor is often the best way forward. You would still have a main rack, which is used to send data around the building, but the secondary racks would be used to offer another data centre. This would be used to limit the amount of cabling again because it would allow a centre to be offered on each floor.

Specific devices

While a single centre for your main pieces of equipment is important, it is also important to keep some devices available in certain areas. For example, in a house with multiple TVs, a media player for each TV would be a sensible choice. This will allow you to watch different things in different rooms without having to add extra equipment to your installation. A set-up like this would also be useful for meeting rooms within a business. That way, different presentations could be shown at the same time in different rooms.

The actual installation

While setting up your own TV is not something that anyone needs help with, a full AV installation is something that will require a professional touch. There might be tutorials online that give you false confidence, but put simply, it will cost you money in the long run if you attempt to do it yourself. A professional will make it easy to get exactly what you need set up and will ensure that it is done right. There is nothing stopping you from getting the individual equipment and parts yourself – you may even save money by doing this – but the actual installation is something that you will want to get done by a pro.
